Waterways Project: Train Tresselt Lake Street Des Plaines River
Charcoal in my A3 Cason sketchbook.
Vivien Blackburn who inspired me to start this project, asked if I'd locate my sketching area on http://maps.live.com
She had a wonderful photo taken off her computer screen. When I tried to do this, what I got was a very washed out looking image so you will have to settle for this link which will bring you to the image. As you can see, the river winds its way through the town of Maywood and this is the Lake Street bridge to the north and the train trestle to the south. I've sketched the train trestle in charcoal above. Its funny to see this in an ariel view. I has quite a different feel in person. The image shows the trees and the river as brown. Everything is Spring Green now. The river remains brown due to its heavy silt content. Is a sluggish, sediment-filled river anyway but after a rain storm its even murkier. Rendering this in color is proving to be big challenge for me. I might just try ignoring realty and painting it more imaginatively. Anyway, here is the link: (Viviene, from across the pond and from my blog to yours...)
