He's a Dead Duck

The other night, we were fortunate enough to be eating duck wraps Chinese style. Our friend Ying very kindly picked up the beast and its accourtaments at China town for us!! There is something a little disconcerting about having a WHOLE duck. Makes me feel like its more personal and that I should offer up a word of thanks to the beasty for providing us with a great dinner. Its easy for us to pretend that we are not carnivors when we eat our meat wrapped in cellophane and get it in a tidy case with very little blood or effort to show for the matter.

GREAT sketch! And good points too about eating meat ... we eat a lot of venison -- and when they're still on the hoof and hopping around the property - makes me think more of eating green veggies!

Oh dear. Poor thing! It's a wonderful sketch though :)! When I saw all the sheep being slaughtered for Eid here a couple of weeks ago, I started wondering how natural it is for us to eat meat. If we had to kill the creature ourselves maybe things would be different! I'm still eating lamb though!
